Condie Carmack, PhD, is a molecular biologist and molecular immunologist currently leading Clinical Operations at Delphi Diagnostics in Houston, Texas. He earned his PhD from the University of Utah and completed
postdoctoral training at Fox Chase Cancer Center and the Medical Biology Institute. Dr. Carmack has held senior scientific and leadership roles at GenPharm, Molecular Dynamics, and Agilent Technologies, and previously served as General Manager of the Cancer Genetics Laboratory at Baylor College of Medicine. During his tenure at Fox Chase, he was involved in the development of the first quantitative PCR (qPCR) methodologies. At GenPharm, he contributed to the creation of genetically engineered mouse models that underpinned the immunotherapy discoveries later recognized with the Nobel Prize in
Physiology/Medicine awarded to James P. Allison in 2018. Today, both quantitative PCR testing and immune checkpoint inhibitors represent multibillion-dollar global industries. Outside the laboratory, he is exploring 3D printing as a tool to create physical molecular models that aid in visualizing and teaching receptor–drug interactions and molecular mechanisms of
action.
