Dr. Shannon Butts is a Senior Learning Designer at Elsevier, where she develops digital learning solutions for nursing and health education. She is also an instructor at the University of Florida in the Warrington College of Business and an educational consultant with the U.S. Department of State. With expertise in AR/VR and game-based learning, Shannon’s work blends learning theory with user-center design to create data-driven learning experiences that meet pedagogical goals. Her recent projects include a remediation platform that leverages AI to create personalized learning plans, and immersive nursing simulations that integrate VR to improve cognitive engagement and decision-making skills. With over 15 years of experience in education and technology, Dr. Butts ensures that educational tools prioritize accessibility, promote critical thinking, build knowledge, and provide validated assessments.
Shannon has a Ph.D in Rhetoric and Educational Technologies from the University of Florida, an M.A. in English from Boston College, and B.A.s in English and Government from Berry College.
