Dr. Dimopoulos is currently employed in a large commercial shipping company, managing an in-house medical department offering preventive medicine services to mariners due to start their employment on board and addressing any health care needs and incidents on board the vessels. This means exploring the limits of telemedicine on a regular basis and making good use of support networks and services.

Dr. Dimopoulos had his basic medical training in Greece and his specialist training in the UK, where he held the post of Consultant in Acute and Stroke Medicine in the Northeast of the country. He has enjoyed the variety of exposure Internal and Acute Medicine have to offer and the multi-disciplinary approach required to achieve good care in a permanently challenged and resource-constrained environment.

During a career of almost thirty years now, he has been fascinated and involved with the application of technology solutions to the clinical practice of medicine. He was fortunate enough to enjoy teaching commitment in the Hull and York Medical School and become quite involved in Healthcare Management, reaching the post of the Medical Director in the Mediclinic Al Noor Hospital, when he moved to Abu Dhabi, a few years ago. He is now putting all the experience gained to good use in the field of Maritime medicine.
