Dr. Ximena Alvira, MD, PhD, is Clinical Executive and Research Manager for Elsevier Health across EMEALA and APAC. She is a physician and neuroscientist with clinical training in Colombia and the U.S., including rotations at Massachusetts General Hospital and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. She leads Elsevier’s Health Research Development Program, a regional initiative designed an initiative designed to strengthen institutional research capacity and promote ethical, high-impact scholarship.

Dr. Alvira also served as the clinical lead for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Clinical Guidelines development project, contributing her expertise to the creation of national clinical standards. She played a key role in the localization of ClinicalKey for Spanish-speaking markets, contributing as a knowledge representation expert and leading long-term user training efforts. She currently supports the integration of ClinicalKey AI, helping institutions adopt trustworthy AI tools through strategic consultation, training, and performance evaluation. Her work bridges science, technology, and education to advance global health research through innovation and collaboration.
